The five plus miles of paved walking/biking trail extends through McKinley Park to the south edge of Green Valley State Park. It then connects with the 9.5 miles of trails around Green Valley Lake.
The City of Creston works hard to keep the trail open from Stone Street to Townline Street through the winter months by removing the snow if possible. They also mow the grass that grows along the trail during the mowing season.
In 2012 the City of Creston crack sealed the trail. Total cost of this project was $22,152 with the City of Creston in-kind of $12,152; the Crestland Betterment Foundation paying $6,500 and the city of Creston paying $3,500.
Funds from the Creston Half Marathon will go into the Crestland Betterment Foundation and will be designated for the upkeep of the Creston Trails for today and tomorrows runners and walkers.
